Camille POUL - Soprano

Camille Poul began her career at a very young age and decided to specialize herself in baroque repertoire. She is known for her flexible, agile voice and a dramatic, sparkling temperament. The range of her repertoire is now very extended. Critics praise the qualities of her brilliant and touching voice, her charm and sophistication, as well as her remarkable and convincing dramatic acting.

She started singing on stage as a child, soloist for the Chorale de Seine maritime, and in some productions of the opera de Rouen (Die Zauberflöte, Carmen, La Bohème, Tosca). She graduated fromt he Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris in 2005 with a specialization in baroque singing and in 2009 from the standart vocal program. She studied with alain Buet, leontina Vaduva, Jean-louis Dumoulin and Buddug Verona-James. She has attended master-classes with René Jacobs and David Jones. Camille Poul has been a member of the academy of the prestigious aix-en-Provence Festival. She currently studies with agnès de Brunhoff.

Her operatic roles include Zerlina (Don Giovanni, mozart) at the opera de Dijon, Carolina (Il matrimonio segreto, Cimarosa) and Cerere (Le Nozze di Teti e Peleo, Rossini) at the opera de Rennes, Belinda (Dido and Aeneas, Purcell) at the opera Royal de Versailles, amore and Damigella (L'incornorazione di Poppea, monteverdi) at the opera de lille and Dijon, amour (Cadmus et Hermione, lully) at the opéra Comique, opéras de Rouen and Caen, Grand Théâtre d'aix-en-Provence, Grand Théâtre de luxembourg, Zémique (Zémire and azor, Grétry) at the opera Comique, etc. She also sang Susanna (le Nozze di Figaro, mozart), Rosina (Il barbiere di Seviglia, Rossini), Rita (Rita ou La mari battu, Donizetti), osira (Zanaida, C.P.e. Bach), ismene (Orpheus, Telemann), amour (Orpheus and Eurydice, Gluck), urgande (Amadis, lully), adele (Die Fledermaus, J. Strauss) to name a few.

Her performances have been seen and/or heard notably on France musique, mezzo, arte and medici.tv.

Very much in demand, Camille Poul has performed in prestigious concert halls suc as the Vienna Konzerthaus, Philharmonie/Cité de la musique in Paris, Vredenburg in utrecht, Concertgebouw in amsterdam, Concertgebouw in Bruges or Théâtre du Quartz in Brest, singing Händel's Messiah, Bach's Saint John and Saint Matthew Passions, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Haydn's Missa brevis Sancti Joannis de Deo, Leçons de ténèbres by François Couperin, l'innocenza from marrazzoli's sacred opera La Vita Humana and the title-role in Caldara’s Maddalena ai piedi di Cristo.

She sang with many renowned ensembles such as les arts Florissants, le Concert d’astrée, le Poème Harmonique, Pulcinella, le Banquet Céleste, la Simphonie du marais, opera Fuoco, il Gardelino, les Paladins, la Divina armonia, the Ricercar Consort. She has been invited by many international festivals in Berkeley, Granada, leipzig, Campo de Jordao (Brazil), la folle Journée in Nantes and lisbon, festivals of Gent and Spa, festival of Palermo, French festival in Riga, mysteriae Pascalae Krakow festival.

She has performed with conductors such as Diego Fasolis, Jean-Christophe Spinosi, Hervé Niquet, Gerhard Korsten, Giuseppe Grazzioli, emmanuelle Haïm, William Christie, David Stern, Jean-Claude malgoire, Vincent Dumestre.

Her discography includes amore and Damigella (L'incornorazzione di Poppea, monteverdi-DVD Virgin classics), amour and Palè (Cadmus et Hermione, lully-DVD alpha, urgande in lully's opera Amadis and the Second grace in Belli's Orfeo (label alpha). She also recorded some arias from michel de la Barre, with the mercure Galant (cd La Julie for label agogique).

Her recent engagements include a very successful embodiment of adelanta in Cavalli’s Xerse with le Concert d’astrée and emmanuelle Haïm, with a staging by Guy Cassiers (opéra de lille, Théâtre de Caen, Theater an der Wien). She received huge acclaims for her Susanna in Le Nozze di Figaro with les ambassadeurs conducted by alexis Kossenko, a production which extensively toured in France.

In December 2015, she sang and recorded the title-role of Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges with the SWR Sinfonie- orchester Stuttgart, under the baton of Stéphane Denève (the Cd has been released by Hänssler Classics).

She performed the same role with the orchestre Philharmonique de monte-Carlo in November 2016, under the baton of Kazuki Yamada.

In 2017, she was a much acclaimed Papagena in mozart’s Die Zauberflöte with Christophe Rousset and les Talens lyriques (Dijon opera, Paris Philharmonie). in october 2017, she performed with great success the role of maddalena in Händel’s La Resurrezione with accademia Bizantina and ottavio Dantone.
