Chantal SANTON JEFFERY - Soprano

Often acclaimed as one of the most accomplished French sopranos of the moment, praised for her "gloriously smooth, rich textured soprano" (The international Record Review), Chantal Santon-Jeffery has embodied numerous roles in the opera, from Mozart (Donna anna, Fiordiligi, the Countess, Sandrina) to the contemporary repertoire (an unanimous press praised her Lolo Ferrari
 in the opera of the same name), including Wagner, (Senta in Der fliegende Holländer), Britten (The Governess in The turn of the screw), Campra (Tancrède), Gassman (Opera Seria) or Purcell (King Arthur, Dido and Aeneas).

She has been invited to sing along prestigious orchestras as Le Concert Spirituel (hervé niquet), Les Talens lyriques (Christophe Rousset), Le Concert de la Loge (Julien Chauvin), Les Siècles (François-Xavier Roth), Ensemble Pygmalion (Raphaël Pichon), Ensemble Matheus (Jean-Christophe Spinosi), Opera Fuoco (David Stern), the Brussels Philarmonic (hervé Niquet), the Orchestre national de Lille (Jean-Claude Casadesus), the Hong Kong Philarmonic...

She has recently performed in Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Salle Pleyel in Paris, in the Royal Opera in Versailles, Avignon Opera, liège Opera, Bozar in Brussels, Konzerthaus in Vienna etc....

Fascinated by the revival of the classical and romantic French repertoire, she has participated in numerous concerts and recordings supported by the Fondation Bru Zane.

She has recently sung two significant roles: Armida in the eponymous opera by haydn, with le Cercle de l’harmonie conducted by Julien Chauvin and with a staging by Mariame Clément, and The Duchess in Boismortier’s Don Quichotte chez la Duchesse, conducted by hervé niquet and directed by Gilles and Corinne Benizio.

Chantal Santon Jeffery is a very sought-after soloist in the sacred repertoire : she recently sang with huge success Michael Haydn’s Requiem and Mozart’s Vesperæ solennes de confessore with Pygmalion (Raphäel Pichon) at the Festival de Saint-Denis and – with the same ensemble – Brahms’ Deutsche Requiem. With the Orchestre national de lille and the Vlaams Radio Koor Brussels, under the baton of Jean-Claude Casadesus, she sang Beethoven’s Symphony N°9 at the Saint-Riquier Festival. With François-Xavier Roth and Les Siècles, she sang Gossec’s Messe des Morts and Mozart’s Krönungsmesse at the Konzerthaus Wien. With the same artists, she has toured with Méhul’s Messe pour le couronnement de Napoléon (Festival de Laon, Beethoven hall in Bonn and the MC2 in Grenoble, Concertgebouw amsterdam). She has also been invited to sing a Rameau programme with the Budapest Festival Baroque Orchestra at the Budapest Festival.

Recent engagements include productions at the Festival de Saint-Denis, Montpellier Opera, the Palace of arts in Budapest, Konzerthaus in Vienna, Théâtre des Champs elysées, Teatro la Fenice, Versailles Opera, Bordeaux Opera, Rennes Opera, nantes Opera, ambronay Festival, arsenal de Metz...

Her recent engagements include Le Temple de la Gloire by Rameau in San Francisco with Nicolas McGegan with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra conducted by Nicholas McGegan and with stage director Bruce lamott, Carmen by Bizet with the Orchestre national de France under the baton of Simone young, alongside Marie-nicole lemieux and Michael Spyres at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Paris, and in the same venue, the role of Sofia in Rossini’s Il Signor Bruschino with enrique Mazzola.

For the current season, we can mention a European tour with works by Méhul and Beethoven with Les Siècles and François-Xavir Roth ;  Beethoven and Cherubini in a tour in California with the Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra under the baton of Nicholas McGegan ; the role of Euridice in a concert version of Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice with I Barrochisti and Diego Fasolis, alongside Philippe Jaroussky, at the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona.

A recording devoted to oratorio and opera arias by alessandro Stradella was recentrly released by Alpha Classics.
