Nicolas BROOYMANS
Basse

In just a few years, Nicolas Brooymans has secured an undeniable place on the music scene: the beauty and ease of his low to high vocal range, the intensity of his singing and his obvious stage presence have earned him an ever-increasing number of engagements on prestigious stages.
His career flourished in 17th- and 18th-century music, and Nicolas Brooymans is a sought-after guest performer with leading specialist ensembles, with whom he performs throughout Europe. He sings regularly with Correspondances (Sébastien Daucé), particularly in the French repertoire. He has participated in many of the ensemble's critically acclaimed recordings (motets by Moulinié; Le Concert Royal de la Nuit; motets and elevations by Dumont; Litanies à la Vierge, Pastorales de Noël, Histoires Sacrées and Descente d'Orphée aux enfers by Charpentier; Perpetual Night).
Other collaborations have been added, confirming a growing reputation with leading ensembles: Raphaël Pichon's Ensemble Pygmalion, Vaclav Luks' Collegium 1704, I Gemelli, Louis-Noël Bestion de Camboulas' Les Surprises, Les Arts Florissants (William Christie), the Ensemble Jupiter (Thomas Dunford), Le Banquet Céleste (Damien Guillon), Le Concert des Nations (Jordi Savall), Les Accents (Thibault Noally), and more.
Nicolas also enjoys chamber music performances, which he promotes alongside the Ensemble Près de votre oreille (Robin Pharo) and which have resulted in the album Come Sorrow, dedicated to English music from the Elizabethan era.
Recent seasons have demonstrated his commitment to a variety of repertoires and sensibilities. Nicolas is regularly invited to perform in major works from the sacred repertoire of all periods. He shone in Monteverdi's Vespers of the Virgin during major tours with Pygmalion and I Gemelli (Paris, Versailles, Amsterdam, Barcelona, Seville); Handel's Dixit Dominus and Scarlatti's Il Primo Omiccido (role of the Voce di Lucifero) with Les Accents in two concerts during the 2025 edition of the Beaune Festival; the Saint John Passion with the Royal Opera of Versailles Orchestra (recording for the CVS label); Mozart's Requiem with the Orchestre des Pays-de-la-Loire and Victor Julien-Laférière's Consuelo Orchestra.
For the operas, we can mention the revivals of the Aix-en-Provence production of Il Combattimento at the Théâtre de Caen and The Magic Flute at the Opéra Royal de Versailles; Rossini's La Cenerentola (Don Magnifico) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Bordeaux Opera and the Rouen Opera; Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio (Osmin) at the Versailles Opera, directed by Michel Fau; Armide (Hidraot and Ubalde) by Lully at Drottningholm, conducted by Francesco Corti and directed by Florent Siaud; tours with I Gemelli in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse by Monteverdi, then La Liberazione dall'isola d'Alcina by Caccini (Toulouse, Madrid, Brussels, Amsterdam, Ambronay, Versailles, etc.).
Nicolas regularly performs the role of Zuniga in Bizet's Carmen: Toulon Opera, Rouen Opera and, most recently, Rome Opera.
Also worth mentioning are concerts (Barcelona, Paris) and a recording of Schumann's Das Paradis und die Peri with Le Concert des Nations and Jordi Savall.
The 2025/2026 season maintains a balance between concerts and stage productions, with a strong presence of Handel's music: a tour with Alcina (role of Melisso) in concert version conducted by Philippe Jaroussky (Paris, Barcelona, Montpellier); Ariodante (role of the King of Scotland) conducted by Stefan Plewniak and directed by Nicolas Briançon at the Versailles Opera; Aci, Galatea e Polifemo (role of Polifemo) conducted by Philippe Jaroussky again at the Zurich Opera; Agrippina conducted by David Bates and directed by Robert Carsen at the Rouen Opera.
