LES ACCENTS
Thibault Noally
The Accents play with a single bow and millimetre precision, and what fruity colours and expressiveness!
Forum Opéra
Les Accents was born at the Beaune International Baroque Opera Festival in July 2014 during a concert with mezzo soprano Gaëlle Arquez. His projects focus on the vocal and instrumental repertoires of the 17th and 18th centuries.
An in-depth work on the Italian Baroque oratorio constitutes the artistic keystone through the rediscovery of the works of Caldara, Porpora, Scarlatti, Bononcini, Stradella. Motets and sacred cantatas are also a favourite training ground.
The ensemble is also dedicated to exploring the baroque instrumental repertoire dedicated to the solo violin.
In July 2015, Les Accents are back in Beaune for the recreation of Nicola Porpora's oratorio II Trionfo della Divina Giustizia. In November 2015, they performed at Salle Gaveau a programme of Italian Motets with soprano Ana Quintans and mezzo-soprano Marianne Crébassa.
In 2016, the ensemble immersed itself in Italian Baroque: revival of Porpora with the magnificent oratorio Trionfo della Divina Giustizia in Versailles, exploration of the Venetian baroque sonata for violin (with 2 world premieres by Dall'Abaco and Torelli), an original reconstruction of Vivaldi's s s sumptuous Tamerlano.
The first recording of Les Accents, Venezia 1700, released in autumn 2016 by Aparté was hailed by critics and elected Classica's CHOC in February 2017.
In February 2017, Les Accents is the ensemble on old instruments of the Victoires de la Musique Classique on France TV and France Musique: they accompany Philippe Jaroussky, Sonya Yoncheva and Léa Desandre.
The ensemble begins works on Alessandro Scarlatti's music: in July 2017, the recreation at the Festival de Beaune of the Mitridate Eupatore (Venice 1707), the composer's absolute masterpiece, a stunning music of counterpoint science, virtuosity and dramatic force. A work on the composer's sacred repertoire also begins with extracts from his most beautiful oratorios (Agar ed Ismaele esiliati, Il Giardino di Rose, San Casimiro rè di Polonia) for the recording programme around the Italian baroque oratorio with mezzo soprano Blandine Staskiewicz.
They will also propose the oratorio of Santa Tedosia in Festival of La Chaise Dieu on next August 2019.
The orchestra Les Accents is sponsored by La Caisse des Dépôts and La Fondation Orange.
