In a few years, Carlo Vistoli has reached the firmament of countertenors on the biggest stages in the world. He seduces with the warm beauty of his timbre while impressing with technical means that allow him to draw complete psychological portraits of the characters he sings.
 
Guitarist and pianist by training, Carlo Vistoli began his studies as a countertenor in 2007. He won prestigious competitions: First Prize at Cleto Tomba Competition in 2012, Audience Prize and Farinelli Prize at Naples Baroque Singing Competition in 2013 or again, the same year, the First Prize at Renata Tebaldi Competition (Baroque category).
 
In 2015, his admission into Le Jardin des Voix des Arts Florissants (William Christie) led to an acceleration of his career, with concerts all over the world. As a member of Le Jardin des Voix, Carlo Vistoli took part in major productions at Ravenna Festival or Festival Dei due mondi in Spoleto, not to mention La Fenice in Venice or the Teatro Regio in Turin.
In 2017, he was selected by Sir John Eliot Gardiner for the roles of Umana Fragilità in Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria and Ottone in L’Incoronazione di Poppea for the gigantic Monteverdi 450 tour. He performed with John Eliot Gardiner both in Europe (Berlin, Edinburgh, Lucerne, Paris, Salzburg, Venice...) and United States (Chicago, New York).
 
The previous seasons have been particularly rich: for stage productions, Ruggiero in Orlando furioso by Vivaldi at La Fenice (Diego Fasolis as a conductor and Fabio Ceresa for the staging), Ottone from L'Incoronazione di Poppea at the Salzburg Festival (William Christie – Jan Lauwers; Harmonia mundi has immortalized this production on CD), Artabano in Artaserse by Hasse at Pinchgut Opera (Erin Helyard – Chas Rader-Shieber), Luci mie Traditrici by Sciarrino, Il Trionfo del Tempo by Handel with Les Accents and Thibault Noally, Semele by Händel in Shanghai, Petite Messe solennelle by Rossini in Brussels and Paris, Rinaldo by Händel at the Lausanne Opera.
 
The two last seasons were dazzling : La Rappresentatione di Anima e di Corpo by Cavalieri at Theater an der Wien conducted by Giovanni Antonini (staged director : Robert Carsen) ; Il Trionfo del Tempo with Les Accents at Philharmonie of Paris and in Moscow, Orfeo ed Euridice (title role) by Gluck at Komische Oper in Berlin, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi alongside Cecilia Bartoli, L’Olimpiade by Vivaldi with Jean-Christophe Spinosi. Carlo performed a brilliant Tolomeo in Giulio Cesare by Händel under the conducting of Philippe Jaroussky at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris and the Montpellier Opera, then Ruggiero in Alcina by Händel (again alongside Cecilia Bartoli), and, for the first time, Nerone in L'incoronazione di Poppea at Berlin Staatsoper.
 
During the 2023/24 season, he will go back to Berlin to sing Farnace in Mozart's Mitridate, and he will be again Orfeo in Carsen's production of Gluck's masterpiece in Valencia; Carlo will also sing the title role in Rinaldo on tour, as well as the title-role in Giulio Cesare alongside Cecilia Bartoli as Cleopatra. He will make his debute at San Francisco Opera with the role of Arsace in Händel's Partenope.
 
Carlo Vistoli has already collaborated with several labels among which we can mention Harmonia mundi, Brilliant, Tactus and Bongiovanni. His first recital records were published by Arcana. La Lucrezia has just been released with La Stagione and Paolo Zanzu for the La Música label which, among other things, won Le Timbre de Diamant from Opera Magazine.
