LA FONTE MUSICA

Michele Pasotti

Absolute mastery of all aspects of these répertoires. These Italians, fond of Trecento... Michele Pasotti's exhilarating energy is no stranger to it: lively tempos, pointillist ornamentations, the Italian collective masters the formidable complexity of the subtle pieces.
DIAPASON
La Fonte Musica is an ensemble specialized in late medieval music, directed and founded by Michele Pasotti to interpret music from the late Middle Ages to the early Renaissance (ca. 1320-1440, especially the Italian Trecento), on period instruments and with a constant philological research in order to understand and restore as well as possible the extraordinarily creative, experimental and refined character of these musics, hitherto little explored.

The vocal and instrumental virtuosity, as well as the attention to detail, typical of the Ars Nova and the Ars Subtilior, go hand in hand with the complexity and refinement of this repertoire.

The ensemble has been invited, among others, by festivals such as : Resonanzen (Konzerthaus of Vienna), Oude Muziek (Utrecht, Netherlands), Bruges MA Festival (Belgium), Laus Polyphoniae Antwerpen (Belgium), Regensburg Tage Alte Musik, (Germany), Wratislavia Cantans (Wroclaw, Poland), Herne Tage Alter Musik (Germany), Concerts Medieval du Musée de Cluny (Paris), Musica Sacra Maastricht (Netherlands), Konzertsaal der Wiener Sängerknaben (Vienna), Venetian Center for Baroque Music (Venice), Vespri in San Maurizio (Milan).

In 2018-19 the Fonte Musica performs at the Bruges MA Festival (Belgium), Resonanzen (Konzerthaus of Vienna), Festival Povoa de Varzim (Portogallo), Festival de Lanvellec (France), MiTo Settembre Musica (Italia), Wonderfeel (Amsterdam), Pavia Barocca (Italy) Festival dell' Ascensione (Italy), Note al Museo (Museo dell' Opera del Duomo di Firenze) and other important early music festivals in Europe.

In 2018 the Fonte Musica will record the first complete recording of Antonio Zacara da Teramo for Alpha Classics.

The concerts of the Fonte Musica were broadcast by BBC (Great Britain), Rai Radio Tre (Italy), ORF 1 (Austria), RBB kulturradio (Germany), Polskie Radio (Poland).

"Metamorfosi Trecento. Transformations of the Myth in Ars Nova", the second album of the Fonte Musica, was released in January 2017 by Alpha Classics and has been warmly acclaimed by critics, receiving a Diapason d'Or.
