Carlo VISTOLI
contre-ténor

In a few years, Carlo Vistoli has reached the firmament of countertenors on the biggest stages in the world. He seduces with the warm beauty of
his timbre while impressing with technical means that allow him to draw complete psychological portraits of the characters embodied.
Guitarist and pianist by training, Carlo Vistoli began his studies as a countertenor in 2007. He won prestigious competitions: First Prize at Cleto Tomba Competition in 2012, Audience Prize and Farinelli Prize at Naples Baroque Singing Competition in 2013 or again, the same year, the First Prize at Renata Tebaldi Competition (Baroque category).
In 2015, his entry into Le Jardin des Voix des Arts Florissants (William Christie) led to an acceleration of his career, with concerts all over the world. Alongside Le Jardin des Voix, Carlo Vistoli took part in major production at Ravenna Festival or Festival Dei due mondi in Spoleto, not to mention La Fenice in Venice or the Teatro Regio in Turin.
In 2017, he was selected by Sir John Eliot Gardiner for the role of Umana Fragilità in Il Ritorno by Ulisse in Patria and Ottone in Incoronazione di Poppea for the gigantic Monteverdi 450 tour. He performs both in Europe (Berlin, Edinburgh, Lucerne, Paris, Salzburg, Venice...) and United States (Chicago, New York).
The previous seasons have been particularly rich: for stage productions, Ruggiero in Orlando furioso by Vivaldi at La Fenice (Diego Fasolis for direction – Fabio Ceresa for staging), Ottone from Incoronazione di Poppea at Salzburg Festival (William Christie – Jan Lauwers; Harmonia mundi immortalized this production on disc), Artabano in Artaserse by Hasse at Brisbane Pinchgut Opera Festival (Erin Helyard – Chas Rader-Shieber), Luci mie Traditrici by Sciarrino and Farnace of Vivaldi at La Fenice, Semele of Händel in Shanghai, Petite Messe solennelle by Rossini in Brussels and Paris, Agrippina by Händel at La Scala in Milan, Rinaldo by Händel at Lausanne Opera.
2021-2022 season was dazzling : La Rappresentatione di Anima e di Corpo by Cavalieri at Theater an der Wien conducted by Giovanni Antonini (staged director : Robert Carsen) ; Il Trionfo del Tempo with Les Accents at the Philharmonie of Paris and in Moscow, Umanita fragilità in Il Ritorno d'Ulisse by Monteverdi with I Gemelli, Orfeo ed Euridice (title role) by Gluck at Komische Oper in Berlin, Stabat Mater by Pergolesi alongside Cecilia Bartoli, Olimpiade of Vivaldi with Jean-Christophe Spinosi. And he closed his season with a brilliant Tolomeo in Giulio Cesare of Händel under the direction of Philippe Jaroussky at Paris Théâtre des Champs-Élysées and Montpellier Opera.
In 2022-23 season, we will be able to find Carlo Vistoli at Firenze Opera for the role of Ruggiero in Alcina of Händel, alongside Cecilia Bartoli. He will then perform the role of Nerone in Coronation of Poppea at Staatsoper in Berlin under the conducting of Jean-Christophe Spinosi. In this same title, he will be Ottone at Opera de du Rhin under the direction of Raphaël Pichon. At the end of the season, he will perform the role of Athamas in Händel's Semele at Berlin Komische Oper.
We will also be able to hear Carlo Vistoli in concerts in Leipzig for Bach's Mass in B, in Amsterdam and Basel in Vivaldi's Il Giustino, at Théâtre des Champs Elysées in Paris in Pergolese's Stabat Mater, the title role of Orlando Furioso in Vivaldi and also in a program of Italian arias with Julia Lezhneva.
Carlo Vistoli has already collaborated with several labels among which we can cite Harmonia Mundi, Brilliant, Tactus and Bongiovanni. His first recital records were published by Arcana. The album Lucrezia has just been released with La Stagione and Paolo Zanzu for the La Musica label which, among other things, won the Diamond stamp from Opera Magazine.
