Eva ZAÏCIK

Mezzo-soprano

Eva Zaïcik was very rapidly noticed for the beauty and length of her voice, whose fullness and flexibility enable her to sing Monteverdi as well as Berlioz, Rossini or Bizet. She has established herself as one of the most prominent opera artists of her generation. What's more, she cultivates a musical diversity that favours the most daring explorations alongside top-ranking musicians.

In 2018, one after another, she was named Révélation Lyrique at the Victoires de la Musique classique awards, and Second Prize at the Queen Elisabeth Competition and the Voix Nouvelles Competition. These distinctions brilliantly confirmed an already considerable career, which has seen her collaborate with first-rate conductors in prestigious concert halls.
These include William Christie (she was an outstanding member of the Jardin des Voix 2017), Vincent Dumestre, Hervé Niquet and Christophe Rousset, not to mention Philippe Herreweghe, Laurence Equilbey, Emmanuelle Haïm, René Jacobs, Cornelius Meister and Alain Altinoglu.

She has recently appeared as Carmen and Rosina (Barber of Seville by Rossini) and Sélysette (Ariane et Barbe Bleue by Dukas) at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Venus in Campra's Idoménée at the Opéra de Lille and the Staatsoper de Berlin, Monteverdi's Vespers of the Virgin with Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon, directed by Pierre Audi, and Paulina in Tchaikovsky's The Queen of Spades at the Nice and Toulon Operas, directed by Olivier Py.
She sang Berio's Folk Songs and excerpts from Mahler's Kindertotenlieder with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at the Festival de Saint-Denis with great success. Eva has also performed Berlioz's Les Nuits d'été conducted by Michael Schønwandt with the Aalborg Sinfonik-orkester, Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent, and Mozart's Requiem with the Münchner Philharmoniker conducted by Philippe Herreweghe.
Eva has also performed at some of the world's leading festivals : Salzburg, Gstaad, Beaune, Chambord, Cluny, Lessay, Lisieux, and at the William Christie Festival in Thiré.

She has developed a special relationship with Justin Taylor and Le Consort, singing with them many Ba-roque programmes throughout Europe. This collaboration culminated in 2 recordings for Alpha Classics : Venez, chère ombre (2018) and Royal Handel (2021), both of which received a Choc de Classica and a Choix de France Musique. In 2022, she released the CD Nisi Dominus, in which she performs Vivaldi's famous motet alongside Le Poème Harmonique and Vincent Dumestre.
Eva Zaïcik's new CD, Mayrig, was released in April 2023, an opus devoted to Armenian lullabies by Komi-tas and Aprikian.

The 2022-23 season was a busy one: Handel's Belshazzar (Christina Pluhar/Marie-Eve Signeyrole) at the Theater an der Wien, Cavalleria Rusticana at the Festspielhaus Baden Baden under the baton of Thomas Hengelbrock, the roles of La Sagesse and Lucinde in Lully's Armide at the Dijon and Versailles Operas (Vincent Dumestre/Dominique Pitoiset).

The 2023-2024 season promises to be just as rich and varied: Eva will be in concert throughout Europe performing Mozart's Requiem with the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées and Philippe Herreweghe, Le Concert de la Loge conducted by Julien Chauvin, and Insula Orchestra under the baton of Laurence Equilbey.
In autumn 2023, with Le Poème Harmonique and Vincent Dumestre, she will tour in North America, from San Diego, Cleveland, Boston, New York to Montreal and Toronto.
Eva will then perform the role of Proserpine in Monteverdi's L'Orfeo under the baton of René Jacobs at the Philharmonie in Paris and Berlin, the Liceu in Barcelona and the Auditorio in Madrid.
She will end her season at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse in Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin (role of Olga) conducted by Gábor Káli and directed by Florent Siaud.
