Eva ZAÏCIK
Mezzo-soprano

2018 saw young mezzo-soprano Eva Zaïcik – one of the most renowned opera singers of her generation - carry off the « Revelation Opera Singers » award at the « Victoires de la Musique Classique », as well as prizes in two prestigious international competitions: 2nd Prize in the Queen Elisabeth Competition in Belgium; and 3rd Prize in the “Voix Nouvelles” competition.
She had already been elected “Revelation Opera Singer” in the ADAMI Young Talent Competition in 2016, the year in which she obtained her Masters in Singing at the Paris Conservatoire (Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de la Danse de Paris) with Distinction, after studying with Élène Golgevit.
Her golden timbre, impressive range and stage presence had already earned her a place for collaborating with great conductors and many prestigious venues both in France and abroad. Let us simply mention William Christie (she is a remarquable member of his Jardin des Voix 2017), Vincent Dumestre, Hervé Niquet, Christophe Rousset, without forgetting Philippe Herreweghe, Laurence Equilbey, Emmanuelle Haïm, René Jacobs, Cornelius Meister or Alain Altinoglu.
Recently, she has appeared as Carmen (title role) and Rosina (Il Barbiere di Seviglia, Rossini), Selysette (Ariane and Bluebeard Dukas) at Capitole de Toulouse, Venus in Idomenee by Campra at Lille Opéra and Berlin Staatsoper, Virgin Vespers by Monteverdi with Pygmalion and Raphaël Pichon in a staging by Pierre Audi, Paulina in La Dame de Pique by Tchaikovsky at Nice and Toulon operas in a staging by Olivier Py.
Eva sang Berio's Folk Songs and excerpts from Mahler Kindertotenlieder with great success with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra at Saint-Denis Festival. Eva has also performed Berlioz Summer Nights, conducted by Michael Schønwandt with the Aalborg Sinfonik-orkester, Beethoven Missa Solemnis with Philippe Herreweghe and the Collegium Vocale Gent, Mozart Requiem with the Münich Philharmoniker under the baton of Philippe Herreweghe
We can also hear Eva in the biggest festivals. On summer 2022, she will perform in Salzburg, Gstaad, Beaune, Chambord, Cluny, Lessay, Lisieux, and at the William Christie Festival in Thiré.
She maintains a special bond with Justin Taylor and Le Consort around several baroque programs given throughout Europe. This collaboration materialized at Alpha Classics with the CD Venez, chère ombre (2018) and Royal Handel (2021), both rewarded with a Choc de Classica and the Choix de France Musique.
The 2022-2023 season is just as promising and abundant: Eva will make her debut at Theater an der Wien in the production of Belshazzar by Händel under the direction of Christina Pluhar and a staging by Marie-Eve Signeyrole. She will be Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana at the Festspielhaus in Baden Baden under the baton of Thomas Engelbrock. At Dijon Opera, she will be La Sagesse and Lucinde in Armide by Lully under the direction of Vincent Dumestre and a staging by Dominique Pithoiset.
The concert season will also be very rich, with collaborations such as the Orchester des Champs Elysées-Philippe Herreweghe, Le Concert de la Loge-Julien Chauvin, the Consort-Justin Taylor, in particular to defend their latest recording Royal Händel, released in 2021 and Nisi Dominus, released on september 2022.
