TRIO PASCAL

In addition to a perceptible complicity, this reading is distinguished by its natural and simple character, entirely at the service of the music. The Pascal's luminosity is similar to that of the Beaux Arts Trio and their readability to that of the Wanderer. Their transparent and solar textures, their phrasing all smiles and lightness, their sovereign balance and their controlled lyricism transport the listener to Vienna.
CLASSICA - Fabienne Bouvet - critique album Schubert Trios (note *****)
Denis Pascal, piano
Alexandre Pascal, violin
Aurélien Pascal, cello

With the Pascal family, music is a family affair. The father, Denis Pascal, no longer needs to be introduced. An accomplished pianist both as a soloist and as a valued chamber music partner, he has launched a cycle of Schubert recordings for the La Música label, the third volume of which will soon be released, and is one of the most esteemed teachers at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris.

Music lovers are also already well acquainted with his son Aurélien Pascal, one of the brightest stars of the new generation of French cellists, who triumphed at the Feuermann International Competition in 2014 at the Berlin Philharmonic, winning the Grand Prize, the Special Audience Prize and the Prize for the best performance of the Ernst Toch concerto - among others! - and now performs worldwide as a soloist with the most prestigious orchestras. In 2019 he released a CD "All'Ungarese" (La Música) which was unanimously acclaimed by the critics and awarded a CHOC by Classica and a Diapason Découverte.

But the family also includes a violinist, Alexandre Pascal, one year older than Aurélien, ADAMI Classical Revelation and Banque Populaire Foundation Laureate, who worked with Olivier Charlier at the CNSM before perfecting his skills with Augustin Dumay at the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Chapel, and who now performs in the most renowned venues and festivals.

In 2021, the Trio Pascal's first recording, devoted to Schubert's Trios n°1 op.99 and n°2 op.100, is released by the label La Música. This critically acclaimed recording is a wonderful demonstration of how the family ties between these three exceptional instrumentalists give rise to a complicity and musical osmosis like no other.
