RIVAGES
Jean Louis Matinier & Kevin Seddiki

LE MONDE - Patrick Labesse
With a freshness and complicity that always seems to flow, guitarist Kevin Seddiki and accordionist Jean-Louis Matinier released an album entitled Rivages in 2020 on the prestigious jazz label ECM. The success of this first fruitful collaboration has prompted the duo to record a new album, to be released by ECM in 2023.
A meeting of two timbres that seems here to be pushed to the point of symbiosis. Rivages also marks the meeting of two musicians with numerous collaborations: Dino Saluzzi, Al Di Meola or Philip Catherine for Kevin Seddiki, Juliette Gréco or Louis Sclavis for Jean-Louis Matinier, to name but a few. From stopover to stopover, the two musicians offer here a free and seemingly perfectly instinctive wandering, between original compositions and personal arrangements: Les Berceaux by Gabriel Fauré, the Irish traditional Greensleeves - which inspired Jacques Brel's song Amsterdam - or La Chanson d'Hélène by Philippe Sarde...
Through sound landscapes whose purity often appears almost cinematographic, guitar and accordion play to develop themes, textures and musical colours: a whole dialogue of musicians where the intimate orchestration and the silence sometimes create suspended moments, full of light and emotions.
