Hasnaa BENNANI

Soprano

Bennani’s voice is flexible and smooth and her phrasing is elegant. Her breath control is extraordinary and allows her to sing long lines with extreme elegance.
Opéra Magazine

French-Moroccan soprano Hasnaa Bennani began her musical journey in Rabat with her sister Jalila Bennani and Laszlo Fodor, her violin teacher. She gained a diploma from the Paris Conservatory in the class of Glenn Chambers and took advanced classes in early music with Howard Crook and Isabelle Poulenard.
In 2011, Hasnaa Bennani won First Prize in the competition for baroque singing in Froville. She has collaborated with many established groups including La Grande Écurie et La Chambre du Roy (Jean-Claude Malgoire), Le Poème Harmonique (Vincent Dumestre), Les Musiciens du Louvre (Marc Minkowski), Les Talens Lyriques (Christophe Rousset), Les Muffatti (Peter Van Heyghen), Le Concert Spirituel (Hervé Niquet), Le Palais Royal (Jean-Philippe Sarcos), La Rêveuse (Benjamin Perrot and Florence Bolton), Les Ambassadeurs (Alexis Kossenko), Akadêmia (Françoise Lasserre).

Abroad, his refined art seduces ensembles such as Les Muffatti (Peter Van Heyghen), the Capella Cracoviensis (Jan Tomasz Adamus), the Hassler Consort (Franz Raml), the Orfeo Orchestra (György Vashegyi) or Armonia Atenea (George Petrou)

In opera, she has sung the role of Al-Faïma in Dubois’ Aben-Hamet at Atelier Lyrique in Tourcoing, La Neige and Le Printemps in La Chouette Enrhumée by French composer Gérard Condé at Metz Opera, a water-nymph in Lully’s Armide at Lorraine National Opera in Nancy, Cléone and Une Ombre Heureuse in Castor and Pollux by Rameau successively with Le Concert Spirituel at Théâtre des Champs-Elysées and with Les Talens Lyriques at Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse.

In her substantial discography, mention should be made of Couperin’s Leçons des Ténèbres with Le Poème Harmonique (Alpha), Amadis by Lully (role of Corisande) with Les Talens Lyriques (Aparté). Other releases include Zaïs by Rameau (role of Amour) with Les Talens Lyriques (Aparté), a disc of French cantatas (Rameau, Courbois) with the Ensemble Stravaganza (Muso) and a disc of opera arias by Handel with Les Muffatti (Ramée).
Popora’s Germanico in Germania was published in January 2018, Hasnaa Bennani receiving many acclaims as Cecina, alongside Max Emanuel Cencic and Julia Lezhneva.

Among her next engagements, Hasnaa Bennani will sing in very good company: let us mention the productions of Castor and Pollux by Rameau in Budapest and Paris under the batton of György Vasheghi and his Orfeo orchestra; the tour of Scarlatti'Stabat Mater in Paris, Lyon, at Saint Dié, Vézelay, Les Musicales de Normandie Festivals with Bertrand Cuiller's Caravanserail; Aci, Galatea and Polifemo by Händel in Ulm with the Hassler Consort; concerts and recording of the Carnival of Parnasse of Mondonville with Les Ambassadeurs at Château de Versailles and Tourcoing.
